BBC Three Counties Radio interview
Today was the day of my interview at BBC Three Counties Radio to talk about Herts Open Studios and my experiences as an artist at Digswell Arts Trust. I was nervous, but soon relaxed and really enjoyed talking to Nick … Continue reading
A good face for radio
In my twenties, I made it my mission to seek out new experiences, believing that feeling scared was a means of challenging myself and growing as a person. This invariably meant travelling to some far flung country and doing something … Continue reading
Farewell to summer
After a week or so down in Devon firing kilns, hanging out with potters and late nights of unadulterated pottery porn, it was finally time to come home on Tuesday. I had a wonderful time on Nic Collins’ firing course, … Continue reading

My clay collection
My bucket collection has grown extensively over the past few years, namely due to the variety of clays I have been picking up from around the UK. These clays range in colour from earthy reds, right through to bluish greys … Continue reading
Digswell Arts Trust Open Studios 2012
Come and find me at Fairlands Valley Farmhouse in September to see where the magic happens!
I’m back!
Why hello there. I’ve been very bad and not written a blog update for over a month. Life has been hectic, but I’m pleased to report that my absence has not been due to anything bad. After a few breakages … Continue reading
Candle luminaries
This is a super quick post to share a photo of what I’ve been making this week – luminaries, or candle holders. Having made some tiny maquettes back in 2010, I’ve enlarged this idea to encompass flickering candlelight. The ceramic … Continue reading
The map is not the territory
Aside from my continuing exploration of seasonal pottery, I am also planning a conceptual piece inspired by a large amount of research I did as part of my Masters degree in 2004. Reading for my MA in Cultural & Critical … Continue reading

Just a quick post to share the news that I have been interviewed by Herts Visual Arts’ as their Artist on File for April! You can read about my journey from treading the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards to … Continue reading
Autumn tiles
The tile project continues, this time taking inspiration from Autumn in the Farmhouse garden. This next batch of tiles were made by stamping dried poppy seed heads into clay. Using a variety of shapes and sizes produced this wonderful pattern.
Open Studios 2011
The last weekend in September played host to the annual Open Studios at Fairlands Valley Farmhouse. This was my first experience of participating in an Open Studios event and I thoroughly enjoyed welcoming people into our pottery, showing my work … Continue reading
Handmade ceramic beads
I’m really pleased with the results of these beads. I recently invested in a bead firing rack from Bath Potters Supplies and it has meant I’ve been able to enjoy experimenting these past few weeks. By adding texture to the … Continue reading
Shades of summer
After the bitter winter we endured at the start of the year, it was such a relief to see Mother Nature in all her splendour blooming into life when the spring finally arrived. As the season changed and the Farmhouse … Continue reading
Exhibiting in Stevenage
During this month (September 2011), I’ve got a variety of pieces on display in the Foyer Gallery of the Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage. This is perhaps the closest exhibition space to my studio at Fairlands Valley Farmhouse, and hopefully will mean my … Continue reading
Throwing with Hertfordshire clay
I obtained this clay when Hertfordshire Highways were digging up the grass by the Farmhouse to put in a series of posts. Their digger did much of the hard work, then it was up to me to put the graft … Continue reading
2011 – the summer of raku
I decided, along with my fellow Digswell Arts Trust potters that throughout the summer, every other Wednesday would be Raku Day. Committing ourselves to organising this type of firing twice a month will be a good way to get to … Continue reading
Photos of springtime pots
I wanted to share with you some sunny photos I took the other weekend. They’re a collection of raku and woodfired pots which I exhibited at the Kimpton Art Show. The glorious sunlight we’ve had recently has allowed me to capture … Continue reading
My first sale!
I’ve been involved in planning the Kimpton Art Show since joining the committee earlier this year and designing the website. After all the hours of hard work, it was gratifying when the event finally arrived last weekend. It was a … Continue reading
Kimpton Art Show 2011
In May 2010 I will be entering some work in an exhibition for the first time. I’ve booked half a table at the Kimpton Art Show. It’s an art show which takes place every May Bank Holiday weekend in Kimpton village … Continue reading
Thanks Hertfordshire Highways
Arriving at the Pottery last weekend, I wasn’t met with usual tranquil scene, and I wasn’t welcomed by the resident woodpecker. Instead, half a dozen florescent men from the Council were procrastinating round a digger, discussing their plans to sink … Continue reading
Spring has sprung
The days of potting in a woolly hat and five layers of clothing in front of three heaters are finally behind me and I can look forward to my pots drying in the spring sunshine. The daffodils and snowdrops have … Continue reading
Slipping at the Pottery
It’s been a very frustrating few days in terms of pottery. I do like the wintry weather, and I think my world is looking very pretty at the moment, especially in London where the snow is hiding much of the … Continue reading
December gas firing report
Pat and I arrived at Fairlands Farmhouse around eight o’ clock on a very frosty December morning, with fellow potter Marlene and her husband Mike not far behind. With the team assembled, the kiln was lit around nine o’ clock … Continue reading
